Shaun & Stefanie | Winter Engagement Session at DePauw Nature Park
Some engagement sessions are extra meaningful because of the story behind the location—and Shaun and Stefanie’s session was exactly that.
We met at DePauw Nature Park, which isn’t just a beautiful place to take photos. It’s also the place where Shaun asked Stefanie to marry him. Being able to return to the exact spot where such an important moment happened made their engagement session feel even more special.
It was definitely one of those true Midwest winter days. The air was cold, the ground was frosty, and you could see your breath in the air—but Shaun and Stefanie handled it like pros. Between the chilly temperatures and the winter wind, they still managed to laugh, stay close, and completely embrace the moment together.
One of the best parts about photographing them was how naturally they fit together. There was so much easy laughter and quiet moments in between where they would just look at each other and smile. Those little in-between moments are always my favorite to capture because they show the genuine connection between two people.
Walking through the trails at DePauw Nature Park felt especially fitting knowing that this was the place where their next chapter began. It’s always amazing when a location already holds such meaningful memories, and now these photos will be part of that story too.
Even though it was cold, the winter scenery gave their session such a peaceful and cozy feel. The bare trees, soft winter light, and quiet trails made the perfect backdrop for celebrating this season of their lives.
Shaun and Stefanie, thank you for trusting me to capture such a special time. I loved getting to document your story in the same place where it all began, and I’m so excited for everything that’s ahead for you two.
