I am excited to announce to you the newly wed Austin & Lil—Mr. & Mrs. Dwenger. They were married September 25. I met up with Lil for the day in their apartment and got to watch her transform into the beautiful bride that she was! We met up with Austin and the groomsmen on the campus of University of Indianapolis. They had their first look inside a chapel and Austin was blown away when he laid his eyes on Lil! We took their bridal party photos all over campus and then headed to Rushville for the wedding. I asked some questions to the happy couple and this is what they had to say—
How did you meet?
Austin and Lil are actually high school sweethearts, they were both raised in Rushville, IN. Austin was in a grade above Lil, and it is weird because they knew people around one another but they did not know one another until they met in his Senior year and her Junior year in Madrigals, or advanced choir. They began talking to one another over music honestly.
How did he propose? This is being told from Lil’s perspective:
“So, 3 months after our third year anniversary, December 16, 2016 in the evening when it was a little dark outside. I wanted to go for a walk, Austin told me, “hang on a sec, I have a paper for school I need to print before tomorrow” and so he went to the printer while I continued watching tv. All I remember is hearing the printer endlessly printing paper and about an hour/half goes by, Austin came into the living room and convinced me to go for a walk as I waited so long and was unmotivated by that time. We started walking and he handed me envelopes with notes inside and asked me to read. I was obviously confused and went, “how do I read when it is dark outside”, he goes, “just please try”. So, I start reading each envelope until we come to a light post and I am on the last letter. I slowly finished, and as I finished our saying, “I love you forever and always..and then some” he got down on one knee with the ring box and asked, “Will you marry me”. I know this story is long, but that’s just it, we have been together long and proposed in a very secretive, very surprising and touching way. I actually had no idea he had planned on proposing to me.”
What is your favorite thing about one another?
Austin – “She is the most caring person I know. She always puts others before herself and has such a big heart, no matter the situation. She is just an innate good person. She treats others, myself included, in ways I have never seen another individual.
Lilandra- “My favorite thing about Austin…he is him, he’s the opposite of me, which allows balance in my life. It’s similar to having a yin (me) and yang, in Austin.
What do you look forward to the most about your marriage?
We look forward to the continued growth with one another, we have shared approximately a third of our lives together and are happy to continue to share the walk of life in unity and happiness.
