I am so thrilled to introduce you to the newly wed Mr. & Mrs. Coan. This wedding is among the top that I have been excited for. Mike and Stacy aren’t just clients, they are family! Not technically blood family, but we all know that you don’t have to share blood with someone to be a part of a family. Am I right?? I’ve known Stacy since she was preschool age. Our families have grown up together. We went to church together all our lives, played softball together, and had many sleepovers and family vacations with one another. Stacy has been like a little sister to me for many, many years. I have an endless number of stories I could tell you about her. But I am going to stick to the present. I met Mike before he and Stacy got engaged. I knew he was special to her and I was very excited for the two of them when they got engaged. My excitement only grew when they asked if I was available to photograph their wedding! I loved being a part of the “behind the scenes” portions of the day and visiting with the family and friends throughout the day. The day unfolded beautifully while they said their vows in front of their closest family and friends.
Mike and Stacy met while working at North Face in Keystone. Stacy was new and some of their coworkers were asking her questions and one happened to be the “where are you from?” question. When she said “Greencastle”, they mentioned that Mike was also from our hometown. They started talking at that point. If you ask Mike the question of how they met and how he knew to ask Stacy on a date, he’d tell you that she “grabbed” his butt! 😉
Stacy’s favorite thing about Mike is his sense of humor. And Mike’s favorite thing about Stacy is her smile and laugh. I asked what they look forward to the most in marriage and they look forward to a long and prosperous life together.
I asked Stacy the story of the proposal. Here is what she had to say:
“We were spending a vacation in Florida with his Aunt Belinda and Uncle Rick. Mike’s favorite place to go is Disney so we went for a couple of days at the end of our trip. It was our last day there. At the time it was December so they had their Holiday Special going on where they would shut down the park and if you wanted to pay extra you could and the park would be less crowded. So all four of us did that. Our first ride was splash mountain. I didn’t really want to go because I didn’t want to get wet, but no one else wanted to go with Mike so I said ‘yes.’ I told them I didn’t want to get wet and since I had never been, they told me to sit in the back. Well, wouldn’t you know I got soaked and was mad! Mike knew I was mad and after the ride, he and his uncle went to ride a ride and he gave me some space. Afterwards, I was still wet and angry but he threw his jacket around me and we went to our next ride, which was haunted mansion. The whole walk over, he was trying to figure out how to salvage this night. While on the ride, he tells me he’s going to take pictures so he reaches for his phone. I’m like, ‘ok…weird…’ but don’t really think anything of it. Next thing I know, he leans over and whispers, ‘I know this isn’t the most romantic, but I don’t know if there will be a better time…but will you marry me?’ Of course at that point I definitely can’t be mad at him anymore! But I tell him ‘you already know the answer.’ He tells me, ‘no, I actually have to hear you say it.’ So I told him, ‘yes!’ He slips the ring on my finger and we kiss. Just after we finish kissing, we get to the part where they say till death do you part…kind of weird…but we just laugh and say it was perfect. I didn’t get to see the ring until after we got off the ride.”
Here is a list off everyone who came together to make their day beautiful:
